Partnership with University of Massachusetts Lowell
EAF has an ongoing partnership with the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML) graduate program in solar energy engineering, the program in which our board member, Dr. Harish Hande, studied. Within the program every fall there is an Energy Project Workshop Course that provides opportunities for students to design a solar project. In the fall of 2015 we arranged for a student team to design a solar PV system for a technical high school in Central America. Three students traveled to Central America and worked with the electrical trade students from the high school to actually install the system that they designed. They also made educational presentations about solar PV while at the school. One of the participating UML students, Yao Ouattara, is from Ivory Coast, West Africa. Following a Optional Practical Training in the USA he plans to return to Ivory Coast to launch a solar enterprise. EAF is supporting Yao in this endeavor.
Fall of 2016 we arranged for another UML student team to design a solar PV monitoring system for the school in Bella Vista, Dominican Republic. That project can be seen at this link.
